And you get this long winded answer from Vice President Kamala Harris going in about her Life Story and the middle class before she starts to address the question. Your thoughts on how she did in that first big first Solo Interview. This was a reminder of the Kamala Harris democrats were so nervous about running in Joe Bidens Place initially. You know, many people said that at the time very early after that first debate that you know, replacing biden would be too risky. Because of exactly these sorts of appearances that she made throughout her time as Vice President. You know, giving answers exactly like the ones she gave with Word Salad that didnt really make much sense. Could not speak convincingly. Now, on the debate on the Debate Stage, she did just fine. Right . And thats, you know, she had a week locked away to memorize the answers but i think what she doesnt have the opportunity to do that she just cant seem to speak convincingly not only to the issues. I was struck by the lack of passion, you know, when it came to explaining her Life Story. And for better or worse, president ial elections are not just about interviews. Theyre not just about, you know, theyre not just about policies. Theyre about taking the measure of a person, and i was surprised that even in this kind of a Sofnl Local News interview setting, that she couldnt connect. Molly you know, when this reporter asked for specifics brian asked for specifics she did eventually get to some of the thing shes talked about money for Home Buyers she got to it but a long beginning. Was that strategy was she burning time in the interviews or trying to find her thoughts . Did she just, you know, mentally go back to a talking pongt to drive home shes from a middle class background. What was that . You know, when she did seem coherent in that interview, she was almost repeating word for word things that she had said in the debate. So these were very clearly things that have been scripted among lines of being in the middle class. But then she embellished it with a very strange comment about well my neighbors really liked to take care of their lawns. I mean, were a long way from, you know, Bill Clinton and, you know, remember the man from Hope Campaign in 1992 somebody who could speak convincingly to the challenges middle class families were facing because you could tell he was really passionate about that because of his own background. Kamala harris sent the words but you dont really get the sense that shes passionate about the middle class. Come i was going say during the course of this interview she also tried very hard to paint herself as uniter not the Divider And Support she says republicans. Take a listen. Im supportive by over 200 republicans who worked for both president s bush, john mccain, Mitt Romney im supported by the former Vice President dick cheney. I think people are more willing now in light of the Hate And Division that we see coming out of Donald Trump to say hey lets, lets put country first. And i think that just makes us stronger more healthy as a country. Lets stop with the division like enough of that. What do you make of this strategy on her part . Well look, i mean, of course, shes going say that. I think hillary clinton, Joe Biden, probably has similar lists of republicans. I think that they as a campaign have gone a little bit further in touting in touting this republican support. But really look at her record and the record of, you know, the administration that shes been part of in 2020. And you know, Joe Biden ran as, you know, somebody who was going to move to the center when he was in those primary debates. With Kamala Harris, you know, he beat her precisely because he was somebody who could do a better job of appealing to republicans and independents in the electorate look what e hes done. There have been no republicans appointed to his Cabinet Or Anything like that after he touted all of that support. Policies were very much policies from the far left and i and thats just the last four years. And you take Kamala Harris somebody who came into that primary in 2020 from Joe Bidens left. So this is essentially the left hand not knowing what the righthand is doing and theres no reason to believe it wouldnt be a complete wash for businesses in other words they would not be better off because while they are while less of their income is being taxed it is being taxed at a higher rate. Molly when one of the other thing she talked about which she talks about often is the Opportunity Economy and among plan she talks 50,000, Tax Deduction to start Small Businesses. Saying that 5,000 isnt enough. Where does this money come from exactly . We havent gotten the clarity it seems on how this all works out and what it means for broader picture for the american taxpayer who is ultimately pecking this up. Thats right molly. This is essentially just more of the same where does it come from in it comes from deficit spending. Deficit spending got us into this mess. The government over the last four years spending literally trillions of dollars that didnt have which meant it needed to borrow it and not enough from the Public Sector so federal reserve created it out of nothing that gave us inflation and this cost of living crisis. And now Kamala Harris is promising again to do more of this same. And as far as the Opportunity Economy or whatever she wants to call it, im sorry but thats just another talking point it is another sound bite, and like most Sound Bites it is not very sound. To be able to just get in the door and then they will do the work that they need to do. So those were two different hopes to tackle the problem the 25,000 for Home Buyers perhaps creating really incentive reason to buy for people otherwise who wouldnt be able to get that Down Payment together. But also the incentive for developers what do you make of the two really kind of different points . Well developers already have plenty of good incentives it is the Profit Incentive the problem is that inflation has wiped out profits. The government actually has several indexes which track the Input Cost to homes in other words what does it cost to builder to build a Home Today . Those indexes are at record highs they continue to set new Records Month after month driven by Inflation And Cost of living crisis. For which Kamala Harris frankly is chiefly responsible lets not forget that as Vice President not only was she the main cheerleader essentially for all of this spending under this administration but on top that, she also was the Tie Breaking Vote in the senate on trillions of dollars of additional spending new research that just came out a short while ago shows that half of all of the inflation we have had since 2020 can be traced to those spending bills on which she was the Tie Breaking Vote. Now, going back to the down Payment Assistance it is a terrible idea just another demanding subsidy. Look weve been here with student loans every time we increase grants homes however it would be even worse because the Down Payment actually has leverage in other words you dont have to put an additional dollar down to increase an additional dollar of home price. It is only lets say 20 . So if you put an additional dollar down, you increase the amount of home you can buy not by a dollar but by 5.
