Coming out resiliently, they are putting out the american flag. We are seeing crews all over the place trying to restore infrastructure, get the roads accessible. We are in biltmore village, a historic town and the art district. The road you see everyone on is the first time they are able to access this. This is business and also people. As you can see behind me, we have had people working all day moving water, food, setting up tents. We had a steady crew of folks coming through picking up supplies. Neil how do you do this . Do you somehow pull it off, and it always amazes me, but we have A Million folks without power, mostly where you are and near where you are. They cant reach you, but somehow you find a way to find them. How do you do that . Yes, so the good part is we have a lot of locals coming through who have been giving us intelligence as far as what areas and communities needed supplies. We are able to push that into the hills. The locals have been key, telling us what communities need supplies. I have to give a huge credit, all of the local departments, volunteer fire, all of the Police Officers. There have been sirens going throughout the day. Helicopters overhead. Its an impressive Operation Theyve been able to do all of those, not to mention the local churches coming out. We have people from georgia, south South Carolina coming down to do kitchens, volunteer nurses, former military, firefighters, former Police Officers from as far as florida and new hampshire. But we are going to have to mobilize all of the agencies. We are going to have to provide funding. Im assuming at some point the president may well have to call congress back into session in order to approve additional funds for the hurricane. With regards to the Port Strike, The One thing we cant afford in this country now is to damage our economy. We have a good economy. The last thing you want to do is create a lot of problems that begin to undermine a strong economy. So i think the president has to look at this carefully, if the parties arent working together seriously to come to some conclusion, i think the president has to invoke tafthartley, get them back to work but hes not doing that, and that surprised a lot of folks. To your point about tafthartley, it provides the president with a Pout D Power to get an 80 day cooling off period, which both sides could benefit from and get back to the table. Hes not doing that. Isnt it risky . There is no harm in giving a Coolingoff Period to force discussions. It is risky not to invoke it, but i understand, giving the parties a little room to see if they can negotiate, but the problem is there is a lot of complex issues here related to new technology and how you deal with that. We went through that on the West Coast in hollywood dealing with the issue of technology. It took a long time. So we cant sit back and allow our economy to be seriously impacted in the meantime. So i really do think we have to get people back to work. And the parties back to the negotiating table, negotiating seriously trying to resolve these issues. That is what i believe would be in the best interest of our country right now. Neil the third issue is the expanding war in the Middle East, everyone waiting to see what israel does. A president made it clear that he does not think it is a good idea if israel is entertaining the idea of hitting iranian nuclear sites. They seem on these issue to kind of ignore the White House. In the past as well, they didnt even give the White House The Heads up to the timing or nature of the Hezbollah Attack that brought us to where we are now. What do you make of how that relationship is going green they did have and there was an effort to jointly knock down the missiles that were coming from iran, but the fact of the matter is, things are tens. What do you make of it . No, there is no question. Its not whether we are going to be in a wider war, we are in a wider war now as we speak. Neil maybe i wasnt clear, what do you think when the president says, President Biden, dont go after these nuclear facilities . I had a republican senator telling me earlier today, go after the oil facilities, but that alone could be dangerous because you start knocking them out, Oil Prices will rocket pretty much across the world. They are already up 10 this week almost. The all, when i was secretary of defense, then yahoo wanted to go after some of those nuclear facilities. One of the problems is they are buried deep in the ground. One is located very deep underground, as are the other nuclear facilities. Im not sure that israel has the capability now to be able to go in and destroy those facilities. Thats one consideration. The other is this, what is intelligence telling us now . If intelligence is telling us that iran is preceding to develop a nuclear weapon, then frankly that concerns not just israel, but the united states as well, because both of them made very clear that iran should not have a nuclear weapon. So number 1, what is the intelligence telling us . If iran is, in fact, not moving towards developing a nuclear weapon, the question becomes what kind of targets should israel strike at in iran . I believe they ought to look seriously at military targets, at frankly some of the Energy Areas as well. What they have to do in The End is make very clear clear that iran is going to be weakened as a result of whatever Strike Israel conducts.
