A longtime Franklin County assistant prosecutor has been arrested by Westerville police on misdemeanor charges of domestic violence and assault.
Brian E. Simms, 59, a Westerville resident who is an assistant prosecutor for the Franklin County Prosecutor's office, was arrested Saturday following an incident involving his wife, according to court documents.
Simms pleaded not guilty to both charges Monday in Delaware County Municipal Court and has been released from jail on his own recognizance.
The Dispatch left messages with the Franklin County Prosecutor's office on Tuesday night seeking comment.
