Funeral services set for Joseph Latino, retired Catholic bis

Funeral services for Joseph Latino, bishop emeritus of the Catholic Diocese of Jackson, have been set for next week.
Latino, a longtime leader in the Catholic Church and the 10th bishop of Jackson, died at the University of Mississippi Medical Center  Friday. He was 83 years old. He had retired Dec. 12, 2013.
Latino will lie in state beginning at 12:30 p.m. at the Cathedral of St. Peter the Apostle in downtown Jackson on June 8, followed by a wake service at 6:30 p.m., the Catholic Diocese of Jackson announced Tuesday. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 a.m. June 9.
