Two large, full loropetalum shrubs that are about 20 feet tall grow in our backyard. Right now, they are in full bloom, with fringy pink flowers and purple foliage literally covering all the branches. As I have said many times before, our entire yard is huge. We have 33 acres and about 3 of the acres are maintained as yard. These two shrubs are planted closely together and give the appearance of one humongous shrub. Our two shrubs are loropetalum chinense. Once established, they are extremely drought tolerant. They grow on the slope in our back yard, standing alone, and function as specimen plants.
