GE Renewable Energy’s Haliade-X offshore wind turbine has received typhoon certification from DNV, meaning the hardware is able to operate safely and efficiently under extreme wind conditions such as in Asia and the US. GE Renewable Energy Offshore Wind business chief technology officer Vincent Schellings said: “We are really happy about this new milestone. “With this, our teams will continue to build commercial momentum in new geographies where the Haliade-X can make a real difference in the energy transition.” DNV executive vice president of renewables certification Kim Sandgaard-Mork said: “Typhoon loads on wind turbines is of critical importance in emerging offshore wind markets such as Taiwan, Japan, Korea as well as parts of the US.
