German power firm plans first wind project

Power provider LEAG is planning its first wind farm project on a reclaimed area of the Jänschwalde opencast mine in Germany near LHI Group's existing Forst-Briesnig I wind farm.
The project developer EP New Energies (EPNE) is currently preparing the Forst-Briesnig II wind farm for the Lausitz-based energy company.
EPNE, which develops renewable wind and solar energy projects for LEAG, plans to erect up to 17 wind turbines with a height of up to 250 metres.
Initial discussions have already taken place with representatives of the Peitz office, the city of Forst and the neighboring communities.
A corresponding application for a permit with an environmental impact study should be submitted to the State Office for the Environment (LfU) in the first half of 2021.
