Glasgow University staff told to avoid all but essential flights

The University of Glasgow is bidding to reduce its carbon footprint by 2030
UNIVERSITY staff have been told to choose public transport over flying and prioritise video calls, in newly unveiled climate plans.
The University of Glasgow has revealed proposals to cut its carbon emissions from business travel by 7.5% each year.
Before the Covid-19 pandemic, this accounted for 22% of the university’s annual carbon footprint, and bosses want to more than half that by 2030.
Professor Sally Wyke, deputy director of the university’s Institute of Health and Wellbeing, said: “As a research-intensive university involved in a wide variety of projects around the world, we’re conscious that travel is, and will remain, an important part of the university’s everyday business.
