GLASTONBURY â All public school students will be learning remotely starting Thursday and continuing for the five days until winter vacation because of the number of staffers staying home over health issues during the COVID-19 pandemic, according to School Superintendent Alan B. Bookman. In an email to parents Monday, Bookman cited âstaffing issues across our districtâ as the reason for the move, a point he reiterated at Monday eveningâs Board of Education meeting. The superintendent said an increasing number of staff members who have a right to stay home are exercising the right to do so. The school systemâs online COVID-19 dashboard today shows that five staff members at four schools are isolating because they have tested positive for COVID-19, while 27 are in quarantine at six schools and the bus yard.
