Globe Theatre bringing back previously cancelled events

It’s been one month since Regina emerged from lockdown and its performing arts community is still catching up.
With theatre closures and rehearsal limitations, groups planned outdoor socially-distanced events, but when the temporary ban on all public gatherings was declared in March, everything was put on hold.
“I think we’re going to be feeling the impact for about three or four years. Artists have lost work. A lot of actors have been out of work for more than two years,” said Jennifer Brewin, artistic director of Globe Theatre in an interview.
Globe Theatre launched their first art residency program in February to provide local artists with new opportunities during a financially and socially difficult time. Participants planned to stage outdoor socially-distanced events throughout the city over a period of four months, but the lockdown curtailed their plans. After working for months on creative projects, they had to postpone at the last minute. One event, Through the Looking Glass — originally planned for World Theatre Day on March 27 — was cancelled only a few days before it was scheduled to take place.
