Letters What a great Susan Munday End of the road From the first few paragraphs of her story on the tragic death of Ashleigh Petrie [July 10], Melissa Fyfe had me absolutely riveted. I wasn’t very familiar with the case. As Fyfe describes it, Ashleigh, who was big-hearted and trusting, all the while battling mental-health issues, became the centre of a media storm because of the extreme age difference between her and her partner. You could simply set all this aside as a tragic story, if it weren’t for the magistrate claiming her $180,000 death benefit when it had been bequeathed to Ashleigh’s grief-stricken mother, who earns a modest income in an accounts job. How has the superannuation fund allowed this to happen? It’s absolutely outrageous.
