Government sets up Digital Intelligence Unit to deal with pesky calls, mobile frauds Recently, Telecom Minister Shri Ravi Shankar Prasad chaired a high-level meeting to address the rising concerns of financial frauds, unsolicited messages. As a result, a Nodal agency, named Digital Intelligence Unit (DIU) will be set up, which will coordinate with various LEAs, Financial Institutions, and telecom service providers in investigating any fraudulent activity involving telecom resources. At the License Service Area level, Telecom Analytics for Fraud Management and Consumer Protection (TAFCOP) system will also be created. In the meeting, the Minister of Communication directed the officials to take strict action against the telemarketers and individuals involved in the harassment of telecom subscribers.
