Calls are increasing to remove unsightly graffiti from St James' Square after its £1.8m makeover.
The artist who created the Fishermen's Memorial said the graffiti on St James' House was "ugly" and clashed with the enhancement scheme to improve the historic heart of the Grimsby.
Trevor Harries attended the opening of the square following its transformation.
He was impressed with the repositioning of his magnificent bronze memorial, which was installed in 2005 after a fund raising campaign. The £120,000 memorial was paid for by public subscription with several businesses donating large sums of money. It was spearheaded by the Grimsby Telegraph and began in 1998.
