A Greeley man has been sentenced to probation for a fatal cannon incident that happened nearly five years ago. 33-year old Max Fenton has taken a plea deal, pleading guilty in Delaware County District Court to an aggravated misdemeanor charge of involuntary manslaughter. He originally faced a felony version of that charge. Authorities say during a gathering at his Greeley home over the Fourth of July weekend in 2016, Fenton fired a homemade miniature cannon made from a sawed-off barrel of a .50-caliber black powder rifle. The rear portion of the barrel blew out fragments, hitting 55-year old Lori Heims of Edgewood in the head. Heims died from her injuries.
