Gueydan police chief involved in incident with citizen of the town

Gueydan Police Chief Shawn Theriot and a citizen of the town were involved in an altercation Thursday, according to the Vermilion Parish Sheriff's office. 
Public information officer Eddie Langlinais said in a news release that the "disturbance/altercation" occurred at a business located at 600 1st St. in Gueydan.
The incident was over before the deputies arrived on the scene.
The Vermilion Parish Sheriff’s Office is investigating. 
Upon completion of the investigation, a final report will be forwarded to the district attorney’s office for a review of criminal charges.
