Gujarat health department increases stipend of intern doctors by Rs 5,000

The stipend for intern doctors across 14 colleges is between Rs 12,800-13,000. It would now go up to Rs 17,000-18,000.

Ahmedabad: The state health department has increased the stipend for medical interns by Rs 5,000. Nitin Patel, Deputy CM said on Saturday (December 19) that this will be put to effect from April this year for the ones working in hospitals attached to government medical colleges.
Gujarat government medical colleges and Gujarat Medical Education & Research Society-run medical colleges, where more than 2,000 intern doctors have been on Covid duty at designated hospitals since April, met health department officials on Saturday and following discussions the state government has decided to increase the stipend of interns by Rs 5,000 to encourage them, Patel told the media.
