When he heard the building was going up for sale in January, he bought it the next day, according to the Ferndale Enterprise. The historic building at 376 Main Street was built in 1903, although its life as a meat market began even earlier — in the mid 1870s, until the original building burned down a few years later. Today, the Ferndale Meat Company still uses certain century-old techniques, such as old-fashioned ways of curing and smoking and using hooks to dry its meats.
