Published August 4, 2021, 8:05 AM (PIXABAY) The southwest monsoon or “habagat” that is being enhanced by two weather disturbances inside and outside the country’s area of responsibility is still expected to bring some rains over several areas in Luzon, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said on Wednesday, Aug. 4. Weather specialist Benison Estareja said that a low pressure area (LPA) was located at 550 kilometers (km) northeast of Itbayat, Batanes, or inside the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) at around 3 a.m. “Based on the PAGASA’s latest analysis and LPA’s current track, the LPA will likely be outside the PAR tomorrow (Aug. 5) but there is still a chance that it will become a tropical depression while exiting the PAR,” Estareja said in the PAGASA’s daily weather bulletin.
