Hampden town election includes contested Select Board race Updated 9:13 AM; HAMPDEN — The race for a seat on the Select Board features a faceoff between incumbent Mary Ellen Glover and newcomer Craig Rivest in Tuesday’s town election. Glover, who ran for the seat vacated by Norman F. Charest in 2019, said she’s running for re-election because she hopes to be part of building a more “open government” in Hampden that works for all. “Eighteen months ago, I ran for this office because I saw that the town was at a turning point and that decisions about its future seemed to be made by a select few behind closed doors. Now, I believe, more than ever, that Hampden is in a state of transition,” said Glover in a statement to The Republican. “I am committed to making voter-driven decisions based on data rather than emotion, voting my conscience, and working for transparency and fiscal responsibility.”
