HAMPTON — Students in the Hampton School District will be returning to in-person learning five days a week. The School Board voted unanimously last week to move forward with a plan presented by the school administration to return students full-time in phases starting with Centre School, kindergarten through second grade, on March 22. If all goes well, Marston School, grades 3-5, will be back full-time April 12 and Hampton Academy, grades 6-8, May 3. “We are emphasizing a gradual return to school in hopes for a better plan in the fall for all students to return,” said SAU 90 Superintendent Lois Costa. The board decision comes after a recent parent/guardian survey which showed 50.4% wanted their students back in the classroom full-time. Since the start of the school year, Hampton schools have been operating under the hybrid remote/in-school learning model with students split into two cohorts. Each cohort attends school in-person two days a week and works remotely at home for the other three days. Cohort A is in classrooms in Hampton’s school buildings on Mondays and Tuesdays, and Cohort B attends classes on Thursdays and Fridays. Last week, the district added an additional half-day of in-person learning, alternating cohorts every other Wednesday.
