Maple syrup enthusiasts are invited to “pull up a tree” Thursday at Oakland Mill County Park. Henry County Conservation’s Dorothy Family Maple Syrup Camp at the Top of the Hill lasting from 4 to 6 p.m. will include tapping maple trees, an evaporator demonstration, and syrup tasting. Naturalist Cari Nicely says participants will definitely notice the difference between fresh maple syrup versus the store-bought variety, “Taste! That’s in it in a nutshell and when you taste it and then you compare it to what we’re used to that we buy for $1.50 a bottle, the taste between those two is what strikes people the most as the wow factor. So, from sap to syrup to the differences between the two syrups, taste is it.”
