Hindu, Hinduism and Hindustan: Part LXVII by Jaipal Singh

Two Abrahamic religions, Christianity and Islam, erroneously interpret Hinduism as a polytheistic religion. In fact, despite the inherent clarity and mention of one God (Brahman) in Hindu scriptures, the diverse traditions and concepts of worship in Hinduism have led to many scholars and Indologists worldwide describing it in different ways. However, Hinduism is a monotheistic religion with the characteristics of monism. The confusion exists among the minds of others because Hinduism endorses and allows its adherents to reasoning, questioning, exploration, tolerance and debate for the realization of the ultimate cosmic truth or reality.
