Figures from the Real Estate Institute of New Zealand (REINZ) show while house sales slowed in the district during April, the median price reached a record level of $440,000 – an increase on the March price which was $427,000. However, the most expensive properties in South Canterbury are in the Mackenzie District with a median price of $521,000 compared to $440,000 in March. While in Waimate, the median price has fallen to $290,000 from $315,000.
