WAPS Board members weighed in as they began to consider next year’s budget, which may see revenues impacted by decreasing enrollment. WAPS’ enrollment has been declining for years. Enrollment declined from 3,177 in 2014-2015 to 2,799 in 2019 -2020 and dropped to 2,459 as of December 28, 2020. Though enrollment has been on the decline historically, that decline has sped up since the 2017-2018 school year, with a decline of 291 students taking place over the three years between the 2017-2018 and 2019-2020 school years, while a decline of 60 students occurred during the three years between the 2014-2015 and 2016-2017 academic years.
