On a particularly glum day recently, I was feeling sorry for myself. “How trying it is to have nothing to look forward to,” I thought. Having been the person constantly booking flights and buying tickets in the before times, my calendar was never even close to empty. I’m never one to shy away from an opportunity to wallow, but for whatever reason, on that day, my brain decided to provide a counterpoint. “There’s lots to look forward to,” it said. “The days are getting brighter, the weather will be warmer soon, and people are getting vaccinated every day. Soon you’ll be wearing skirts without tights and drinking rosé in your back garden at the very least.” It was a comfort.
