HS2’s phase 2a will reach from Birmingham (pictured) to Crewe The government has announced £50m of funding to boost transport connectivity between HS2 and a new development near the rail line’s Birmingham Interchange station. The cash is aimed at new infrastructure including multi-storey car parking at the mixed-use development called Arden Cross. Plans were approved by Solihull Council in August 2020. The £50m of government funding is matched by £45m in regional funding. The new car park will service the HS2 station and has been redesigned into a multi-storey version after previous plans would have seen 7,400 car parking spaces take up 22 acres of green belt land.
