Sringeri sub-registrar HS Cheluvaraj filed a police complaint on Monday night against Gangadhar, the personal assistant (PA) of Revenue Minister R Ashok alleging that the PA had demanded money from him during the minister’s visit on Sunday. The House Officer of Sringeri Police Station registered Cheluvaraj’s complaint as a non-cognizable complaint (31/232/2021) on January 25. In the complaint, Cheluvaraj explained how the PA asked him to meet the revenue minister during a function on January 24. “On reaching the venue, the minister’s PA took me to another room and asked me for money, threatening me when I refused to do so. I want the authorities to punish him under Section 506 of the Indian Penal Code (criminal intimidation),’’ said Cheluvaraj.
