Nagaland: Unity College organises training on skills

Dimapur, Sep. 28 (EMN): Commerce department of Unity College, Dimapur, organised a one-day skill development training programme on September 23 on the theme ‘Sustainability through green skills.’ The training programme was held in collaboration with The Banana Co. (Hengna & Maben Pvt. Ltd.) to impart students the essence and power of green skilling through personal interaction and hands-on training session, informed an update from the department. Director of Hengna & Maben Pvt. Ltd., Nengneithem Hengna; training coordinators Meriyani Ezung, Yemtila and Loimei were the “artisans and resource persons” of the skill training programme. “The skill development training programme was a testament to the department’s principle aim to take stock of progress and come to terms with the fragility of education and training systems,” it stated. The main objective of the training was to imbibe in students the importance of green skills towards creating a greener future. During the training session, Hengna made the students aware of the various uses of banana plant, after which the students were provided hands-on training by the resource persons on making sustainable products using raw materials from banana plants.
