The Congress has accused the Narendra Modi government of mismanagement, reversing the progress made under Manmohan Singh's prime ministership in promoting economic growth. Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh claimed that the number of agricultural workers in India declined by 6.7 crore between 2004-05 and 2017-18, as workers shifted from low-wage agriculture to higher-wage occupations in manufacturing and services.
