NOIDA: With the number of Covid cases as well as bed occupancy going down in Noida, as many as 1,500 beds are lying unused in various hospitals across the city. These beds, officials said, have been kept in reserve in anticipation of a possible third wave.
The administration has kept 100 beds each reserved at the Child PGI and the Government Institute of Medical Sciences (GIMS). Another 250-bed Noida Covid Hospital is vacant now and its capacity can be increased if cases begin to rise suddenly.
Two community health centres in Bhangel and Jewar have been turned into 50-bed facilities. About 500 beds are readily available in government facilities for Covid patients.
