Ilaiyaraaja's daughter Bavatharini has passed away after undergoing treatment for cancer. She had been suffering from health problems for the past five months and had received Ayurvedic medical treatment in Sri Lanka. Her condition was initially thought to be a stone in her gall bladder but was later diagnosed as the fourth stage of cancer. The family is preparing to bring her body back to Chennai for the final rituals. Bavatharini Raja was an Indian singer and music composer, and she was awarded the National Film Award for Best Female Playback Singer in 2000.
