A cost estimate for the addition is not yet available, but he says it will be higher than many people expect once the price of land purchases, road construction, infrastructure installation and other various factors are tallied. Rodman says this is not a moneymaking venture for the city. Rather, it is an opportunity to see the community continue to expand and develop. As it stands, the council does not have a timeline for when lots would be available for purchase or even where the lots will be. Once city officials reach an agreement with landowners, the council will need to hold public hearings to complete the purchase. Then, the land will need to be annexed within city limits and additional hearings will be required before the city can borrow the required funds. Rodman says residents should expect to see the proposed development plans on the agenda into 2022.
