Reliance Jio’s new bundled offer – JioPhone 2021 – giving customers a handset, up to two years of unlimited voice calls, and 2 GB data per month for one-time payment of Rs 1,999 may not be enough to scare completion, feel analysts. A one-year plan from RJio with similar benefits is available for Rs 1,499. For existing users, the plan is priced at Rs749 with one year validity, with similar voice and data allowance. Jio’s aggressive efforts earlier, according to analysts at Emkay, to capture post-paid subscribers from Bharti and Vodafone Idea Limited (VIL) have not worked well despite multiple attempts. Based on their estimates, RJio has around 130 million JioPhone users, and among them over 40 million will complete the three-year lock-in period in the first half of 2021 (H1CY21).
