Street people are saying that the Trade Union Movement in Grenada needs some new blood. In some trade unions, the persons in leadership positions are not representing the workers adequately. They are saying that it seems as though the government and the trade unions are working together to oppress the workers of this country and when it is convenient, Rachel Roberts, the leader of the Public Workers Union, which represents the largest number of public workers, instead of putting up a good resistance and meeting the workers to adequately represent the workers, just comes out in the media making a set of noise. According to some well-informed street persons, she knows that the union’s election of officers is coming up in March, so she is trying to ‘sing for her supper, but its too late now, since most of the public workers are looking for a new and vibrant leader to more effectively represent them.
