A local business owner contacted the Thomas County Sheriff's Office about a check that passed through the business' bank account. "The logos on the check were not the company's logo," said Capt. Tim Watkins, sheriff's office chief investigator. A legitimate signature was compared to the signature on the checks. "They were not even close," Watkins said. The checks were made payable to John Howard Sutton, who Watkins said admitted passing and receiving cash for the fake checks.
