Wet Weather and Flooding Continue To Impact The Area

It's been a wet last few days in our region and flooding is a big issue around the area. In Hamilton County, emergency officials were called to a water rescue for a vehicle that decided to drive into flooded waters. The incident took place at 12:50 PM on Saturday on County Road 600, east of Dale. Officials encountered a truck that was empty. They say the person who owned the truck escaped to safety. McLeansboro Police and Fire, Hamilton County Sheriff's Officials and ambulance were called to the scene. Officials say this is a good time to remind you to turn around if you encounter a flooded roadway and don't drown. The flooding problem will be continuing for the next several days as area rivers will be rising. Flood Warnings are posted on the Skillet Fork, the Little Wabash, and the Wabash Rivers. On the Little Wabash at Carmi, officials are forecasting the crest to be around 32 feet, which is considered moderate flood stage. Meanwhile, the Skillet Fork at Wayne City has hit its crest of 17.2 feet and is currently starting to fall. The river is set to fall below flood stage later today. The Little Wabash in Clay City and at Golden Gate has already fallen below flood stage. We will take a look at river stages later in the newscast.
