India imposes curbs on import of some laptops, tablets and computers

The Indian Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) has restricted imports of certain laptops and computers, along with tablets and all-in-one personal computers, with immediate effect. Such items can only be imported with a license for restricted imports, except where Baggage rules apply, or for research and development, testing, benchmarking and repair purposes, or where they are considered an "essential part of Capital Good".
