The School Board unanimously approved the changes Tuesday night. Simply put, the district responded to the community's response, Moore told TCPalm. "Based on the misunderstanding of the intent of the position, it tells me we as a district need to inform parents how being this intentional (with equity and assess for all students) can help serve all students," he said. Moreover, charging one person with managing efforts of the Equity Committee, the NAACP, the School Board and the district fully comply with a decades-old desegregation order, among other responsibilities, would be too much, he said. "There's a significant amount of work" to be done regarding equity in the district, he said, and "it needs to be everyone's responsibility."
