Indio police continue to search for a motorist who left the scene of a hit-and-run crash this week that resulted in the hospitalization of a woman and her 5-year-old son, who suffered severe injuries.

The crash occurred shortly before 4:30 p.m. Thursday at the intersection of Indio Boulevard and Fred Waring Drive, according to Indio police spokesman Ben Guitron.
Described as a "major traffic collision," it involved a red Toyota Camry and a black Toyota Highlander.
