Inheritance tax (IHT) can be managed by a designated professional, usually, an estate planner or lawyer, who will apply for probate (known as grants of probate) which will allow them to manage the family’s assets. Recently, the government changed the rules on this to move the probate system from a paper-based set up to a digital one.
