Industry and Employment Correspondent ESB Networks has confirmed that today's industrial action by network technicians belonging to the Independent Workers Union has caused "minimal impact". In a statement it said ESB Networks continues to monitor the situation closely and ensure that the necessary contingency plans are in place to minimise the effects of any current industrial action on its operations. Meanwhile it is understood that talks between management and the network technicians’ unions recognised by the company - Connect, SIPTU and Unite - have been continuing through the day. Yesterday, the ESB had appealed to a union representing network technicians to call off the industrial action for today.
