Interactive mural in Invercargill CBD teaches breathing through te āo Māori


The mural was a good reconnection of people to te āo Māori in a safe space, Manawatu said.
When people talk about kaitiaki guardians, they may think it was separate from today’s world but the mural helped bring them back into it, he said.
The interactive mural on Esk St features a QR code people can scan to unlock videos made by the students.
The mural was launched by Healthy Families Invercargill collaborated with He Pī Ka Rere network, a group of early childhood providers.
Within the education system, children were experiencing a lot of achievement anxiety, and suicide statistics were very high among young people, Manawatu said.
