By Chris Conley Zack Vruwink (WSAU) RHINELANDER, WI (WSAU-WXPR) â Rhinelanderâs interim city administrator, Zach Vruwink, had accepted the job full-time. The Rhinelander City Council unanimously approved Vruwinkâs contract in special session on Wednesday. Earlier this week, Mayor Chris Frederickson announced the city had successfully negotiated an employment agreement with Vruwink. Vruwink was hired as a consultant in May 2020 to help with administrative duties after former administrator Daniel Guild was fired. Guild was accused of withholding information that was part of a freedom of information request. Vruwinkâs salary, $111,500 a year, is more than past city administrators. Rhinelander human resources consultant Doreen St. Onge said that is still less than what the city budgeted for the position, $133,000. âWe did do comps for city administrators for other municipalities and the range I actually put into my monthly HR report for council, it was between $97,000 base up to a $115,000 base for comparable.â
