9 & 10 News July 1, 2021 Courtesy: Jennifer Thomet A Grand Traverse County library is closed to indoor visitors after a truck crashed into the building. The Director at the Interlochen Public Library says someone ran a stop sign Wednesday – colliding with another vehicle. That truck was then propelled from the intersection, across the lawn, and into the side of the building. Several windows were broken but there was no structural damage.
The library director says the window seats are a popular spot at the library – and this could have been much worse. Jennifer Thomet says, “It’s a focal point of our library and our whole community – is this area right here. So this is where the people naturally congregate. For this to happen… we’re just so grateful nobody was here. Everything can be replaced and repaired. No one was hurt. We’re just really really grateful,” Thomet says.
