Irish public urged to be 'sun smart' as temperatures keep soaring after hottest day of the year

A LEADING cancer charity has warned the Irish public to be sun smart - as temperatures continue to soar after the hottest day of the year yesterday.

And the Marie Keating foundation warned that the UV index, which measures the strength of the ultraviolet radiation of the sun, is between 6-7 which registers as high.
They urged anyone spending time outdoors today to ensure they protect their skin and reduce the risk of sun burn and skin cancer.
Jennifer Cinnerman, Director of Communications and Engagement at Marie Keating said: "It has been such a challenging 15 months for everyone that it is only natural that now we have some good weather and an easing of restrictions that people want to get out to enjoy the sun.
