A Jackson barbershop owner said he is loosening COVID-19 restrictions at his shop. Chris Blount has been the owner of Blount's Barbershop in north Jackson for over 12 years.Nearly a year ago, Blount had to make adjustments to his shop because of the rise of COVID-19 numbers. During COVID-19 protocols, Blount had every customer undergo temperature checks at the door. All customers were required to make an appointment prior to arriving. Now, he said it's time for things to return to normal.“Right now, you can come in with whatever you’re comfortable with. If you want to wear a mask, you can wear a mask. I still have everything out for you to wear if you don’t have it including gloves, hand sanitizer and masks if you don’t have one. I have everything available still,” said Blount.Blount said he decided to loosen restrictions at his barbershop after seeing rising numbers of vaccinations. While he wants his clients and the shop itself to feel how it once did, Blount said safety is still a top priority.“One of the major differences is scheduling. When one is leaving, one is coming. That way we don’t have a lot of people coming in here at one time,” said Blount.Blount said both barbers are only allowed to have up to two clients inside the shop at one time. Once more people get vaccinated, Blount plans to allow more people inside at once.
