JACKSON, MI – The Jackson School of the Arts’ dream to move downtown is closer to coming true.
Jackson City Council approved the sale of the former Vermeulen’s Building, 135 Cortland St., to the 18-year-old nonprofit for $500,000 at its virtual meeting Tuesday, Dec. 8.
The city bought the property, along with the Masonic Temple next door, in 2017, with hopes of bringing an incubator kitchen to the space. Tuesday’s purchase agreement includes a deal to lease the first floor to the city for that kitchen.
