But January 2021 is the first month to buck that trend.
Xero is tracking the progress of hundreds of thousands of small businesses with less than 20 employees as they fight to recover from Covid-19 lockdowns and no international tourists.

Holly Ensor says flower growers are producing less than other years for fear they may have to dump their crops if lockdowns happen.
Howick florist Holly Ensor, owner of The Flower Bar, said Christmas had been quieter than expected with no corporate work.
There were few orders from schools in the area which was usually “a massive part” of Christmas trading. Other florists had said the same, Ensor said.
