EVANSVILLE, Ind. — Major Jason Ashworth with the Vanderburgh County Sheriff's Office announced his campaign to succeed the current sheriff in 2022. Ashworth formally launched his campaign Tuesday morning at the Old Vanderburgh County Courthouse. The announcement was also live-streamed on the campaign Facebook page, facebook.com/AshworthForSheriff. In his remarks, Ashworth highlighted several priorities, including hiring and training quality candidates for the sheriff's office, as well as work to strengthen partnerships with other law enforcement agencies and local organizations. "That's going to be the number one goal... is making sure that the community is the best place and the safest place to live," he said.
