Northlines JK Chief Justice lends ear to LawyersJK Chief Justice lends ear to Lawyers Jammu Tawi, April 16: A delegation of lawyers practising in Jammu Courts today apprised the Chief Justice of J&K High Court, Justice Pankaj Mithal at Jammu about the issues concerning the lawyers and members of public concerned with the court proceedings. The lawyers submitted a memorandum enumerating their demands for urgent redressal by the chief justice. The lawyers apprised the chief justice on the practical difficulties of virtual hearings in place of physical hearings while observing the SoPs in all courts. According to the delegation Convener Advocate HC Jalmaria, the Chief Justice gave the delegation a patience hearing and assured to consider the issues projected. The important demands put forth in the memorandum included restoring physical hearings instead of virtual hearings in all courts; dropping of the proposal of shifting of High Court from Janipura to Raika; restoring Court Timings for six months in Summer Zone areas from 8 a.m to 1.30 p.m; Elections to J&K Bar Council; dropping Contempt proceeding against four young lawyers; Vaccination of Lawyers at Court Complex; easy availability of stamp papers in the court complex; restoring Registration of Documents work to Judicial Officers; Opening of Closed Consumer Courts; Opening of Human Rights Commission and Opening of Accountability Commission etc.
